I love the truth that is packed into those two little sentences! It can be so easy to allow things around you to steal your joy, but ultimately it is your choice.
I want to share with you a video by the Skit Guys that beautifully illustrates this concept.
It can be hard to rejoice in the gifts of others when you secretly wish the gift was for you. Maybe you have been hoping for a child in the midst of many people around you embracing the gift of new life. Maybe you have been diagnosed with an illness and have witnessed the gift of healing for others but not for you.
Whatever it is, can I encourage you to take your broken heart to the Lord? He has a plan for you and he desires his best for you. It might not be what you had hoped but if you can’t lay your desires aside, you will never truly be able to experience the joy of God’s best gifts for you.

If you are struggling to find joy, seek the comfort of your creator and ask Him to help you. Don’t let His gifts to others blind you from seeing the blessings He has given you. Remember, joy is ultimately your choice.
